GC17A/QP5050A GCMS (Shimadzu, USA/Japan)

This instrument is used for routine mass spectral analysis of volatile organic mixtures. It consists of an autosampler equipped capillary GC interfaced with an EI ionization quadrupole mass analyzer with a mass range of 900 Da (CI is also available as an option). A low polarity (5% phenyl-, 95%methyl-siloxane) column is normally installed. Direct introduction of solid or liquid samples is possible with this instrument. This instrument is also located in Room B14, Remsen Hall. Guidelines for sample preparation and user instructions can be found here.
