Faculty Positions

Joint Faculty Position- DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY AND DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS AND ASTRONOMY

The Department of Chemistry and the Department of Physics and Astronomy of Johns Hopkins University invite applications for a joint faculty position in the general area of quantum materials.  Applications are encouraged from both chemists and physicists interested in the preparative aspects of materials discovery.  The search is directed at the Assistant Professor level, though exceptional candidates for tenured ranks will also be considered; the primary appointment will be in the Department of Chemistry.  It is anticipated that the successful candidate will interact strongly with both departments as well as with the broader materials research community at JHU, including the newly formed Institute for Quantum Matter.  The new position has an anticipated starting date of July 1, 2009.  Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae and description of research plans as PDF attachments to chemsearch@jhu.edu and also arrange to have three letters of reference e-mailed by reviewers to the same address.  Mail may be addressed to Joint Chemistry and Physics/Astronomy Search Committee, c/o Rosalie Elder, Department of Chemistry, Johns Hopkins University, 3400 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21218.  Consideration of applications will begin on November 15 and will continue until the position is filled.  Johns Hopkins University is an Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity employer, and actively encourages interest from minorities and women.
